Keeping Kids Safe
M/I has a client that has a very, very cool product that we want to get into churches and schools. It’s called MyCSIcard. The website is www.mycsicard.com http://ping.fm/LSL7a
Here is some basic info…
The president of the company is a local school principal and a minister. It was developed by him with input from law enforcement, security consultants and technology experts. It’s sleek, durable credit-card sized flash drive that plugs in to any computer USB port. Here are just some of its benefits:
* Decrease Amber Alert time from 60 minutes to 10 minutes
* Provide Law enforcement all the necessary information in time of crisis when you don't have the ability to think straight and answer questions
* Store 31 data fields about your child including pictures, demographics, known friends, known dangers, medical conditions, distinguishing scars, etc…
* Be easily updated and transported
* You control the information so that no third parties will have access to your privacy
* Work with all types of computers and computer operating systems
* Provide close family members and people who care for your child the immediate information in case of an emergency
* Be provided to other organizations to complete registrations (Schools, Churches, Summer Camps, Emergency Room, etc…)
The cost is only $29.95 a YEAR. That’s crazy. Let me know if you know any churches, schools, parents, etc that might be interested.

Planning a Promotional Campaign for a Pastor, Church or Ministry, Part 1
Ministries have a message they deem necessary to be heard. While word of mouth is always a valued resource for publicity, planning a promotions strategy is not a bad idea.
Why should a pastor, church or ministry plan a promotional campaign?
There are three main reasons or perspective outcomes for initiating promotions:
• To reach your intended audience
• To effectively articulate your message to your target
• To stimulate a specific action by the message being communicated
For a pastor, the intended audience may be the unchurched or non-believer. The promotional campaign will help to convey the proper message in a way most acceptable by this demographic. Ultimately the intent is to draw these persons to visit their church or, even, give their lives to Christ.
You will be able to reach them better if you understand their needs and desires. One can’t assume you know another’s basic wishes, so you must open the lines of dialogue. Get out into the community and explore the deficits of the neighborhood. Talk to people. Run ideas by them. Take an active interest in their lives.
Recognize that every community is comprised of multiple small groups. These groups have leaders and decision makers. Develop a relationship with them and work together to bring about real change.
Next, make decisions about what communication channels will be used. For ministry, speaking with people face to face is best. The use of social media networks is a great way to talk to young adults and youth. A lot of ministries advertise in faith-based publications. But if you really want to reach the unchurched, check out local secular publications.

Blogging for Churches, Ministries, Christian Music Artists, Faith-based Non-Profits, & Christian-Owned Businesses
Blogging is gaining in popularity. Blogging is seen as one of today’s most widely used internet marketing tools. Blogging started in the late 90’s; now, ten years later, everyone has a blog.
When the concept of blogging first started, people were just leaving single-sentence comments about a website they visited. Companies would use blogs to get visitors’ reactions to their website, products or services.
Do you have a blog on your website? (Share your website address)
Now blogs are long, outdrawn conversations about anything, everything and nothing all at the same time. However, to the advantage of our industry, blogging is also a strong internet marketing tool and advertising vehicle.
Actually, posting this blog is advertising for my company. Responding to it is publicity for your.
Do you use blogging as an internet marketing tool for your ministry or company?
There are several reasons why churches, ministries, Christian music artists, non-profit organizations, and small businesses should engage in regular blogging practices.
For starters, it’s simple and easy to do. We all need a web-presence. Blogging gets your name out on the World Wide Web. And the best part is you don’t have to be a computer expert to do it. Just read, respond and submit.
So what do you write about? Blogging is a simple way to get your cause, thoughts and beliefs broadcasted. You can blog about your ideas, experiences, new products, or just spread a message of hope.
How is blogging marketing? Marketing is essentially enticement. Once people start getting familiar with you as a person, the blogs might entice them to attend your church, support your ministry, buy your CD, donate to your organization or use your services.
Please share: How has blogging benefitted your ministry or business?
Advertising is EVERYWHERE. Everywhere you turn there is one form of advertising or another. (Good thing for me as an advertiser). This makes it hard to discern at times who to trust. Should your business or support always go to the one with the largest advertising budget?
Because the credibility of promoters continues to come in question, we need safe and authentic ways to advertise. Blogging can be that solution.
By blogging you show yourself to be a real person with real expressions. Pastors should blog to add a personal touch to their ministry. Christian musicians should blog to share the thoughts and feels behind their music.
Blogs provoke conversation. This is a good thing. Readers give their honest opinion about your products, services, or cause. People want to buy what others have tried, tested and approved.
The best reason blogging is perfect for churches, ministries, Christian artists, non-profit organizations and businesses is the cost. IT’S FREE!
Blogging has not yet been accepted as a primary internet marketing tool, therefore there is rarely a charge for it. At best, blogs are considered a mere aid or assistant to the main marketing efforts. But when done correctly, it is a publicist’s best kept secret and a great opportunity for your ministry or company.
Let’s share: What free blog sites do you recommend?
When working with a small (or no) budget but great volunteers, blogging is ideal. FYI, there are paid blog sites for the serious bloggers.
Credibility is big in this industry. Every pastor wants a following. All artists desire a fan base. And a loyal customer base is key for a successful business. Blogs are great for building credibility.
People want to stay in the know. They want to look to you for their information. While blogging, you write about your experiences. People read because they want to know more about your opinion. The more you write, the people rely on you. For this reason, blogging becomes a good online marketing tool because readers visit your site and more bloggers link to your blogs.
The more blogs, the more readers. The more readers, the more notoriety. The more notoriety, the more business. The more business, the more you can serve.
(Side note: Bloggers may reach out to you to advertise on your blog page or make you an affiliate, which pays for every referral generated from your blog site.)
The bottom line is blogging builds your market and reach. If you are blogging something good and interesting, the will tell others about your site. We all want more readers. Here are some times for churches, ministries, artists, non-profits, & small businesses:
Add a link to your blog site in your email signature.
When readers visit your blog site, use subscriptions to get the visitors’ email addresses.
Conduct a survey for your readers to get to know them better. You might also learn more about what they want to read in the future.
Join a blog network.
Once again, blogging is gaining in popularity. Blogging is seen as one of today’s most widely used internet marketing tools. I recommend blogging be a regular part of your marketing and publicity practices. Happy blogging.

Your Church Will Die Without Facebook | 1429 Creative - Maximizing Church Communication and Marketing Strategy for Churches, Parachurch Organizations and Non-Profit Christian Ministries http://ping.fm/o6IfL
The Media Should Know About Your Ministry, Part 6
How many people got saved at your church this Sunday? With whom did you share this great news? Did you tell your local TV station, newspaper or radio station? You should!
When something amazing happens in our ministries we think to tell our family, friends and Facebook, but what about the rest of the world. Pitch these stories to reporters and see how God works.
Here are a few ideas of testimonies you can pitch to the media. Hopefully this will spark some thoughts of ways to get the media interested in publicizing your ministry:
Everyone loves something free. If you are offering free workshops or seminars in any subject matter, shout it from the roof tops. Perhaps an article or blog can be written about your area of expertise followed up by an invitation to learn more.
Has a member of your ministry been elected or is running for public office. Show them your support in a big way by pitching the reason why they are best candidate. Also include volunteer work they have contributed to your ministry.
Websites are an essential tool in both business and ministry today. When your ministry has a new website or has added some cool new features, you want the media to know. But if your site already existed, your modification has to be major to really grab others’ attention.
The men and women of the military sacrifice immensely for the whole country. If a member of your ministry is called out, cheer for them. Sharing the support you offer for their family and friends, shows outstanding compassion and kindness.
Your ministry is doing great things for the community and God’s children. Pitch it to the media. Give them an opportunity to report the good and positive ways God is changing lives.

What's The Difference?
Still confused about the difference between public relations, publicity, advertising and promotion? This is a great example I came across that should straighten it out :)
Let’s say the circus comes to town and you want people to know about it.
1. Advertising - displaying a sign announcing that the circus is in town
2. Promotion - Displaying the sign on an elephant and parading the animal through town
3. Publicity - If the elephant carrying the sign tramples through the ornamental garden of the mayor and the newspaper reports it
4. Public Relations - If you are able to get the mayor to laugh about the incident and ride in the circus parade with no hard feelings!

The Media Should Know About Your Ministry, Part 5
How many people got saved at your church this Sunday? With whom did you share this great news? Did you tell your local TV station, newspaper or radio station? You should!

Here are a few ideas of testimonies you can pitch to the media. Hopefully this will spark some thoughts of ways to get the media interested in publicizing your ministry:
Adding new members or expanding your staff is a great broadcast opportunity. If your church has a new minister of music, tell all of the radio stations. Share when your ministry is growing and striving. Even a minor increase can be major news.
Joining forces with another ministry for a mutual cause should be celebrated and supported by society. For instance, if a Baptist and a Catholic church collaborate on a clothing drive, it expands their reach and the TV stations should chime in. Speak about the purpose and passion behind the joint venture.
When something monumental happens in one of your members lives, rally around them. New babies, retirements, or even a new promotion on the job is reason enough to contact your local media.
Ministries are living organisms. As they expand, let others include in your announcement the reason for growth or how it happened. When there is a system that works for expansion, people want to learn about it.
Celebrate the scholars of your congregation. Excelling academically is a testament to the power of God in education. This should be blasted.
More ideas to come…
